2025
Following her 2024 series, Shawnee continues to explore the relationship between people and place — but this year’s collection introduces new layers of complexity inspired by her experiences in Japan. Exhibited at Art in the Park 2025, this body of work delves into the concept of liminal spaces: moments of transition where cultures, eras, and aesthetics intersect.
Drawing from the juxtaposition of Japan’s modern cityscapes and serene natural environments, the works explore coexistence — between movement and stillness, chaos and calm, the sacred and the everyday.
Pieces such as The Many Me and Urban Saint embody the duality that defines the collection — the multiplicity of identity, the layering of cultural symbols, and the ongoing dialogue between old and new worlds.
This series captures a sense of reflection and transformation — a visual bridge between her past works and her evolving artistic voice, inviting viewers to pause within the in-between and find beauty in balance.
